The electric light show on the way to the office was amazing today.
When it Rains
Seems the lightning split the sky in two and is letting ALL the water out. I had my usual heads up that the storm was coming around 5 a.m. when my dog, Max (soft coated wheaten terrier mix), ducked for cover under my bed and Husker (golden retriever)–much too big to fit under the bed–jumped on top of me and curled up like a lap dog looking for a little reassurance that all was well. It’s so fascinating to me how animals are so much like people.
They don’t like storms much…and yet the storms come.
Life is like that. We’re going about our business and suddenly a storm swirls up. Maybe that storm is marital strife, a worrisome teenager, an ill parent, a health concern or a major financial set back. Just like in nature, the storms of life come in all shapes, forms and lengths of duration. Sometimes we feel like we will never see another sunny day…and then, just like that, the rains subside, the clouds part and we start to see glimpses of blue sky again.
I find that during the storms of my life, I often receive encouragement at just the right time. A handwritten note from a friend. A loving text message from my husband. A supportive email from a colleague. I also have my own personal “Happy Playlist.” So here’s a song from me to all of you that makes me feel better “when it rains!”
