Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence
October nationally is domestic violence awareness month and to show support that the community cares, 10,000 ribbons with a card explaining the purpose of the ribbons are available to wear. So, why is my ribbon purple?
It stands for healthy relationships. It means:
- You care about other people, and you treat them as you would like to be treated.
- You do not react with violence or shouting, even if you are angry with someone.
- You are a role model, showing other people how to do the right thing.
And, in addition to wearing the purple ribbon, on Oct. 22, individuals, groups and families are encouraged to wear purple, take a selfie and email it to lwilk@famservices.com to show locally and across the state and nation that Grant County cares about stopping domestic violence.
Many people don’t know that October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Help us paint the USA purple!
