We must work together to ensure school readiness in early childhood education. This was the message shared by Glenda Ritz, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction, last week in the Grant County Local Elected Officials meeting.
School Readiness: Investing in the Present & the Future
According to research, 80% of a child’s brain growth is complete by the age of three. Children are born ready to learn, but we must provide the resources and opportunities for healthy early childhood development.
The Early Childhood Coalition of Grant County seeks to provide high quality early childhood educational experiences for every child. They envision school readiness through a focus on family involvement, community collaboration, and educational engagement.
The Early Childhood Coalition of Grant County strives to increase:
- Parental involvement
- Early childhood program enrollment
- School success
- Graduation rates
- Readiness for formal education
In order to effectively address early childhood development, we must come together—as families, communities, and educational establishments. We must invest in the present by empowering parents, and invest in the future by educating our children.
