The 2014-2015 Indiana Wesleyan University Pre-Art Therapy Society donated a 4-piece canvas set to Radiant Health.
IWU Pre-Art Therapy Society Donates Artwork
The project, pictured on the right, is meant to represent the transformation clients experience while receiving services at FSSI. The artwork is on display in the main lobby of our office at 101 S. Washington St., Marion, Indiana.
Following is the artist statement:
Radiant Health is an organization that is dedicated to changing lives for the better. The Pre-Art Therapy Society decided to base these paintings off of Radiant Health’s mission to encourage, empower and educate individuals.
As the viewer looks at the paintings, they may notice that there is a gradual change from dark, sharp angles to light and smooth lines across the canvas. This symbolizes the change that can occur in a person’s life when they seek help and are motivated to walk toward change.
As your eye travels from the first to the last panel, you might first sense chaos, then balance and peace. It is not always a smooth and easy transition, but through hard work and dedication, great change can occur.
The black lines throughout all four paintings not only unify the piece, but also create a sense of constancy throughout time. When seeking help, it is important to remember that while changing behaviors and thoughts is an important part of the process, we must also recognize that we still keep the good aspects of ourselves as well as our unique characteristics.
Radiant Health is dedicated to empowering you to bring about this positive change in a supportive and nurturing environment. We hope that you can achieve this as well and wish you luck on your journey.
All of the staff at Radiant Health would like to send our gratitude to each of the students who donated their time for this project! We encourage you to stop by our office and take a look at the paintings in person.
