“I See You. I Hear You. What You Say Matters to Me.”
I See You. I Hear You. What You Say Matters to Me.
Oprah Winfrey is often heard uttering these words as she discusses the common human experience and need for validation. Sometimes she poses it as a question, “Do you see me? Do you hear me? Does what I say matter to you?”
Every day, at Family Service Society, our Social Workers are engaging with the people in our community who feel invisible and unheard. These are families and individuals who have endured unspeakable traumas and challenges. The very same Social Workers walk through our world without judgment. They are filled with compassion as well as common sense. They are grassroots advocates for the future of our community. They are engaged in doing the hard work of helping rebuild broken lives with very little reward other than the appreciation of the people they serve. They do this knowing there are more invisible people waiting to be seen, heard and told they matter.
Because the need to reach this invisible population is so great, Family Service Society is taking a stance of “grow to meet the need.” We believe individuals and families should be able to come home to Family Service Society and know they matter. We all matter.
During Professional Social Worker Month, we honor those who are in the trenches with our families and neighbors. We thank you for your professionalism, your care, your resourcefulness, and your wisdom. And if you are feeling invisible right now, know this: We see you. We hear you. And what you say matters to us as a community.
To change the life of someone who is feeling invisible, come home to Family Service Society and make your donation today.
