Hands of Hope Employee Receives Commendation
For the past 13 years, Bobbie has been handling the screening process for Hands of Hope’s Kids and Cop Program (formerly known as Shop with a Cop). This program is run through the Fraternal Order of Police, and allows children who received services from Hands of Hope throughout the year a chance to have a police officer escorted shopping trip. The children’s parents provide a list of essentials, such as gloves, hats, and toothbrushes. Once these items are purchased, the children can use their remaining money to purchase the “fun stuff,” like toys and games.
“To see the smiles and interaction with officers and family is priceless,” says Bobbie.
This year, the Fraternal Order of Police extended their deepest thanks to Bobbie for all of her hard work in the Kids and Cop Program. To show their thanks, they presented her with a plaque of commendation and gift card.
We, as an agency, are incredibly proud of Bobbie and her committed efforts to serve Grant County families affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse!
“The screening can get a little hectic, but the day the kids shop makes it all worthwhile,” Bobbie concluded.
