I hope each of you had the opportunity to make a snowman yesterday or just sit by the fire with your feet up sipping your favorite hot beverage.
Get in Touch with your WHY
Personally, I “undecorated” my Christmas tree because my dog was eating all the ornaments off of it. Weird. I now have a naked tree, with lights, and an angel. I’m enjoying the symbolism, however, still irritated with the dog. I must admit, yard clean-up has be festive!
I always become reflective at the end of the year. I’m a natural thinker so spend a lot of time in my head anyway but more so at the end of the year as I anticipate the birth of a new year and all the possibilities it holds. One of the things I’ve learned over time is that in order to be happy, I need to be touch with my “why”. Why do I work where I work? Why do I volunteer where I volunteer? Why do I maintain the relationships I maintain? Every year, without fail my answer is the same. My WHY is my family.
My family inspires me to want to work tirelessly to make the world a better place so when I am gone, they have inherited a legacy to be proud of—a community that is safe for children and adults. Every day, I wake up knowing this is my WHY! A community where mental health can be talked about and treated as easily as any trip to the doctor for a sore throat. A community where children, adults and families THRIVE!
As we wrap up the year, I challenge each of you to get back in touch with your WHY. You’ll find it energizing!
